West Brom winger issues 'very good' verdict of Southampton

The two sides face off at the Hawthorns in the first leg with Norwich City hosting Leeds United in the other semi-final.

West Brom go into the game on the back of a positive showing in their final match of the regular season, where they beat Preston North End 3-0 last weekend.

The 20 year old insists "anything can happen" despite Saints finishing 12 points ahead of the Baggies in the table.

He said: “Southampton are clearly a very good side and they finished above us in the table. They like to dominate possession, but I think we gave them a really good game at their place.

“At our place, they were on top for most of the match but this is the playoffs now and anything can happen. 

“There’s no doubt they’ll be a tough opponent and it’ll be a challenge for us, but we’ll approach it with full confidence because we know we deserve this opportunity and we deserve to be in the play-offs."

Carlos Corberan's side ended a winless run of three matches with their victory against Preston and Fellows wants to make sure they continue that.

He continued: "We’ve delivered some really good performances this year and we’re all determined to produce another couple in the two legs.

“We’ve earned the opportunity to play for a place at Wembley over the 46 games of the season so let’s see what happens.

“I don’t really agree with the playoffs being a lottery because I don’t think any game is ever won on luck alone. 

“There are two legs meaning we’ve got 180 minutes of action to play.

"After 180 minutes, the better of the two teams will usually go through to the final so we need to try and make sure we’re the better team in each match.”

The second leg takes place on Friday, May 17 at St Mary's, with Russell Martin's men having home advantage due to their higher league finish.
