Drivers have been warned as overnight rainfall has caused flooding on city roads.

Those travelling on the roads today are urged to take care following the bout of rain.

There is some localised flooding and surface water across Southampton, according to the council.

A spokesperson from the council’s highways team said: “There is some localised flooding and surface water across the city.

“Please drive carefully.”

Rain hit the city from 6pm on Saturday night, continuing until the early hours of this morning.

Although it is expected to be dry for the rest of the day, rain has been predicted for the early evening.
