Saints hammer Farnborough
 |
| JAN POORTVLIET |
Jan Poortvliet's first game in charge of Saints ended with a 4-0 win against non-league Farnborough.
The new head coach fielded different elevens in either half and will have learnt plenty from his first game.
The first goal was scored by last season's academy player of the year Matt Paterson three minutes before half-time.
Adam Lallana doubled the lead on 52 minutes before Bradley Wright-Phillips and David McGoldrick completed the scoring.

If we had lost tonight, it would have meant certain relegation. Now we won, it means we are gonna walk the league this season.
Premiership here we come

I wouldn't be surprised if John and Jhon went- the former is on £19k a week which is hardly sustainable. If we can play a system around Rasiak it would be better all round.
As for the match reading the report it would seem that Adam Lallana had a good spell, good indication for next season. For all the detractors I think if Lallana can play as he did in that game against WBA (which in effect spurred us on to believe we could stay up last season) he'll be as valuable as a £1m signing.
If you look at all the players who've left for big money since relegation nearly all have been academy players and Kenwyne only cost £100k. Goes to show that money doesn't always buy success.

Does anyone know if Lancashire (sorry if spelt wrong) is still recovering from injury as did not play last night and thought he would have been given chance in defence?
