Cricketer paralysed after ball hits head
A CRICKETER left paralysed after being struck on the head by a ball is starting his long road to recovery in a Hampshire hospital.
Phil Williams was not wearing a helmet while batting when a ball hit the back of his head, fracturing his skull and paralysing the left side of his body.
The 52-year-old from Ferndown is now being treated at the Wessex Neurological Centre at Southampton General Hospital.
Son Chris said: ""He will never play cricket again and faces a long road of treatment.
"This could all have been avoided if he was wearing a helmet."
