Premiership return for ex-Saints boss Wigley

FORMER Saints manager Steve Wigley is back in the Premiership.
Bolton manager Gary Megson has reinforced his backroom staff by appointing Wigley as head coach.
The former Nottingham Forest and Birmingham player will link up with Wanderers when he returns from a short family holiday.
Wigley, who also enjoyed a spell as assistant manager/first team coach at Manchester City, will combine his duties at the Reebok Stadium with his role as coach with the England Under-21 set-up.

Why???
How can this bloke, no matter how nice, keep getting all these opportunities, he had a great chance at Saints, and couldn't get one win in half a season. Now he's working with England U21's and in the Premiership with Bolton, if I failed in my job I wouldn't expect to get promoted or head hunted, there is obviously a huge lack of British talent within Football.
Why???

Mr Betts this is WHY.
Wigley is an outstanding coach. Management and coaching are two seperate quantities,in fact he never wanted the Southampton post but took it short term then the club dragged its feet finding a replacement.

agree....wigley good coach.....rubbish manager....hoddle good coach ...absolutely no idea of man management.......bit like my work set-up.....managers have no clue how to manage only dictate

Could the answer be that Southampton FC are not renowned for recognising talent, and when they do, being unable to keept it.
Steve Wigley was a talented right winger at Portsmouth, although I note that The Echo failed to mention that in case it upset any sensitive Saints fans.
Steve had no success in management at Southampton for two reasons. The first is that he could not field a first class team with second rate players, and secondly, he was not given a reasonable time.
It is interesting to note that other 'useless managers' at Southampton have gone on to have success at other clubs, and you only have to your Easterly neighbours to seem a prime example.

I even think you blue boys have signed a few of our ex-players and managers..
