Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty have seen their wealth grow to more than £650 million, the annual Sunday Times Rich List has revealed.

The Southampton-born Prime Minister and his wife saw their personal fortune grow by more than £120 million over the past year.

This rise was linked to Ms Murty’s small stake in Infosys, the 70 billion dollar (£55.3 billion) Indian IT giant co-founded by her billionaire father.

Her shares grew in value by £108.8 million to nearly £590 million for the year.

Despite this increase in their wealth, it is still below the £730 million figure they had during 2022.

Where did Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty place in the Rich List?

Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty were in 245th place on the Sunday Times Rich List with a value of £651 million.

The Times wrote: "Sunak and Murty are the wealthiest people to call 10 Downing Street home.

"The prime minister's political fortunes may have suffered over the past year, but the same cannot be said of their personal fortune."

Whilst the vast majority of the wealth came from Murty, financial statements showed that Sunak made £2.2 million during 2022-23 which is more than 60 times the average UK salary.

They added: "His MP and prime ministerial wages account for only about 6.5 per cent of this sum, with other income sources including returns from his investment portfolio."

Robert Watts, compiler of the Sunday Times Rich List, said: “This year’s Sunday Times Rich List suggests Britain’s billionaire boom has come to an end. Many of our home-grown entrepreneurs have seen their fortunes fall and some of the global super-rich who came here are moving away.
